Fake silencers or mock suppressors are fully compliant with NSW law and are not considered prohibited weapons under the *Weapons Prohibition Act 1998*. They do not meet the legal definition of a silencer as set out by the legislation.

*“These items do not meet the definition of a prohibited weapon silencer and therefore are not captured under the Weapons Prohibition Act 1998. No authority from the NSW Firearms Registry is required to possess and use the item on a registered firearm.”*
